Reinstalling Diet Power 4.4

If you've uninstalled Diet Power 4.4 or lost the use of your original installation through file corruption or some other hard-drive problem, you can reinstall the program. You can also restore the records of users whose files you have saved with the Travel Bag.

Four Ways to Reinstall

  1. Diet Power's free 15-day trial CD. (It's the complete program.)

or

  1. The paid CD that you bought from Diet Power or one of its distributors

  1. A free 15-day trial downloaded from www.dietpower.com. (Again, the free trial is the complete program.)

or

  1. The paid download that you bought from Diet Power

The file used for installation...

...is always DP.EXE or DPtrial.EXE.* You will find this file on the CD or wherever you saved the download. (If you didn't save the download, you can redownload the free 15-day trial from www.dietpower.com. If you did save it but can't remember where, it may be in the \Windows\Temp folder on your hard drive.)

*

This is true in Version 4.4, first released on February 27, 2007.  In earlier versions, the file name was always DPMMDDYY.EXE or DPtrialMMDDYY.EXE, where MMDDYY was the release date.

If you've already paid for Diet Power 4.4...

...but are reinstalling with the free trial, you can get a Spare Key to make the trial work permanently again. Just click the Buy Now button that appears when you start up the new installation, follow the instructions for getting a key, and make sure you order a Spare Key.

Before you reinstall...

...realize that, even if you used Diet Power 4.4's "uninstall" procedure to remove the program from your hard drive, all user records will still be present. If you don't want them to show up in the reinstalled copy of Diet Power, you'll need to move them out of the folder where Diet Power put them. To find their likely location see Personal Records, Your.

To reinstall:

  1. Using Windows Explorer or My Computer, navigate to the installation file described above.

  2. Double-click the installation file's name.

  3. Follow the instructions that appear on your screen.

To restore users' records...

...follow the procedure in User, Restoring from a Travel Bag_Backup.
